Calgary Bach Choir
Baroque & Beyond
Our Land Acknowledgement
In truth and reconciliation, the Calgary Bach Choir acknowledges that we gather together to create and enjoy music on the beautiful lands encompassing prairie, foothills and mountains called Moh’kins’tsis, which is the ancestral territory of the Siksikaisitapi: the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani and Amskapi Pikuni. We acknowledge all First Nations and Métis of Treaty 7 Lands: the Tsuut'ina and the Îethkabi which includes Beaspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney. We honour all generations – past, present and future – and all those who call Calgary and Southern Alberta their home and share this land in a spirit of peace, friendship and respect.
Our Dedication to Equality, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
The Calgary Bach Choir celebrates the beauty of baroque and classical music as performed and loved by musicians and audiences all over the world. We recognise that music in all its forms is a crucial element of culture, a part of what makes us uniquely human. We welcome all participants — singers, orchestral players, audience, volunteers, donors, and supporters — regardless of their age, education, ethnicity, gender, marital status, place of origin, race, religion, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation or identity. Although the origins of our repertoire were in a time when many forms of discrimination were common, we are dedicated to equality, equity, diversity, inclusion, and a sharing of the music we love with all who welcome it.
"It's difficult to express what happens to your heart when you engage with achingly beautiful music. The concert this afternoon was a reprieve from all worry; the forgotten joy of live music and the human voice in song was moving and memorable."
Cynthia S., audience member, November 2022
