WELCOME  TO THE CALGARY  BACH CHOIR
BAROQUE & BEYOND

Calgary Bach Choir in Rehearsal November 2021

Our Land Acknowledgement

In truth and reconciliation, the Calgary Bach Society acknowledges that we gather together to create and enjoy music on the beautiful lands encompassing prairie, foothills and mountains known by the Blackfoot name Moh’kins’tsis, which is the ancestral territory of the Siksikaisitapi: the Blackfoot Confederacy of the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani and Amskapi Pikuni; the Îyârhe Nakoda Nations of the Wesley, Chiniki and Bearspaw; the Tsuut’ina Nation and the Métis Nation of Alberta Region 3.  We honour all generations – past, present and future – of these Treaty 7 Signatories and all those who call Calgary and Southern Alberta their home and share this land in a spirit of peace, friendship and respect.

Our Dedication to Equality, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

The Calgary Bach Society celebrates the beauty of baroque and classical music as performed and loved by musicians and audiences all over the world. We recognise that music in all its forms is a crucial element of culture, a part of what makes us uniquely human. We welcome all participants — singers, orchestral players, audience, volunteers, donors, and supporters — regardless of their age, education, ethnicity, gender, marital status, place of origin, race, religion, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation or identity. Although the origins of our repertoire were in a time when many forms of discrimination were common, we are dedicated to equality, equity, diversity, inclusion, and a sharing of the music we love with all who welcome it.

"It's difficult to express what happens to your heart when you engage with achingly beautiful music.  The concert this afternoon was a reprieve from all worry; the forgotten joy of live music and the human voice in song was moving and memorable."

Cynthia S., audience member, November 2022

CALGARY BACH CHOIR is now auditioning choristers for all voice parts.  If you're an alumnus of one of Calgary's many fine choruses and you love to sing the music of Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and other great composers from the Baroque or Classical era, you are encouraged contact us for an audition.

We would like to thank all those who supported us in our recent casino.  Without you we would not be able to do what we do best - singing great music!  We are celebrating our 35th season in 2022-2023 with three wonderful concerts, and we hope to see you there!
