WELCOME TO THE CALGARY BACH CHOIR
Baroque & Beyond
"...a significant voice in the early music landscape in Western Canada."
(Stephan Bonfield, Calgary Herald)
The Calgary Bach Choir has risen to the challenge of keeping our choral community singing during the COVID-19 pandemic by moving our rehearsals and vocal coaching sessions online. We continue to prepare new repertoire as we look to the future, when we can share this great music live and in-person once again!
The Calgary Bach Choir is a DYNAMIC organization offering an exciting, three-concert season to Calgary audiences.
Our choristers are adults from all walks of life who are PASSIONATE about the music of classical music’s greatest composer, JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH.
We promote an APPRECIATION and ENJOYMENT of classical music to the general public, with a focus on the Baroque period (1600-1750) and the music of J.S. Bach, his musical predecessors, contemporaries and heirs.
We strive for musical EXCELLENCE in our performances. We provide experienced, auditioned, amateur choral singers with an INSPIRING and challenging opportunity to immerse themselves in this WONDROUS MUSIC and to experience the thrill of performing it with professional musicians for the public.
We are a strong, welcoming, affirming and inclusive CHORAL COMMUNITY.
We offer a season-long series of choral WORKSHOPS with guest conductors as well as one-on-one choral vocal COACHING.
We also nurture the next generation of artists by providing scholarship opportunities.
We are a registered non-profit charitable organisation enriching the Calgary community with
GREAT CLASSICAL MUSIC since 1988.
